Silent Vows - Chapter 8

Chapter 8 – Learning to Live Again

Aditya’s recovery was slow, like a river thawing after years of winter. The first weeks were spent relearning simple things — holding a spoon without spilling, standing with support, speaking without his voice cracking.

Aditi was there for most of it. Not because she had to, she told herself, but because it felt… wrong to leave him alone in those moments.

One afternoon, during a physiotherapy session, he asked,
"Did you know me… before the accident?"

Aditi shook her head. "No. You were just Sanvi’s husband. And then… Meera’s father."

He studied her quietly, his dark eyes unreadable.
"Strange… you’ve been more in my life these past months than anyone else. Yet I’m a stranger to you."

Her fingers tightened on the glass of water she was holding. "Strangers can still care, Aditya."
