Chapter 4 – The Silent Wedding
The hospital room was too cold. White walls, the smell of disinfectant, and the rhythmic beep of machines.
Aditya Rathore lay still, his face calm but distant, the kind of face carved with quiet strength. His eyelashes cast faint shadows on his cheeks.
The priest chanted softly, the family lawyer watching with a neutral expression.
When the garland slipped over his unmoving chest, Aditi’s fingers brushed his — warm but unresponsive. The mangalsutra felt heavier than it should.
"This isn’t a marriage," she told herself silently. "It’s a promise to Meera."
But when she glanced at the child standing beside her, clutching her teddy, she knew it was also a promise to herself.
