Runaway Bride – The Lost & Found Love - Chapter 8

Chapter 8: The Runaway Heart

The silence in the car was thick.
Aditya’s eyes remained fixed on the road ahead, his jaw clenched, while Aditi sat in the passenger seat, hands nervously twisting the edge of her dupatta.

Every second of the drive back to the Raichand mansion felt like an eternity to her.
Her heart screamed, “Run, Aditi. If he takes you back there, you’ll be trapped again. Run before it’s too late.”

Her fingers slowly reached for the door handle. Aditya noticed the movement from the corner of his eye.

Aditya (without looking at her, voice calm but edged with steel):
“Don’t even think about it.”

Aditi froze, her breath catching in her throat.
But her rebellious spirit wasn’t ready to surrender.

Aditi (whispering, almost pleading):
“Aditya… let me go. Please. I don’t belong in your world. You’ll never understand me.”

Aditya pulled the car to a sudden stop on the deserted road. Dust swirled around as silence fell between them.

He turned to her, eyes burning with intensity — a storm of love, anger, and pain.

Aditya:
“Understand you? I’ve spent every damn second of the last one year trying to understand you. Do you even know what it’s like to wake up every morning not knowing if you’re safe? If you’re alive? Do you know what it’s like to search every street, every corner of this country like a madman—just to see your face again?”

Aditi’s eyes brimmed with tears, guilt and fear warring inside her.
But still, she whispered, stubbornly:
Aditi: “You don’t own me, Aditya. I wanted freedom. You can’t lock me in your cage again.”

Aditya leaned closer, his voice dropping to a low growl that made her shiver.
Aditya:
“You call my arms a cage? Fine. Then I’ll be your cage. Because I’d rather chain you to me than lose you again.”

Before she could react, she unlatched the door and bolted out of the car.
Her sandals kicked up dust as she ran along the barren road, her dupatta flying like a flag of rebellion.

Aditya cursed under his breath, slammed the door, and chased after her.

She was fast — her desperation fueling her steps — but he was faster. Within moments, he caught her wrist, spinning her into his chest.

She struggled, hitting his arms, trying to free herself.
Aditi (screaming): “Leave me! I don’t want to go back with you!”

Aditya’s grip tightened, his voice breaking with raw emotion.
Aditya: “Over my dead body, Aditi! You are mine — and I’m never letting you go again.”

The desert wind howled around them as if nature itself was witness to their storm.

Her tears streamed freely now, her struggles growing weaker as his arms locked around her like steel.
She could feel the violent pounding of his heart against her cheek.

Aditya (softer now, almost begging):
“Run all you want… hate me if you must… but don’t you dare leave me again. Because without you, I’m nothing. Do you hear me, Aditi? Nothing.”

Aditi stopped fighting. Her body trembled, her breath shallow, her eyes wide with the terrifying realization:

She couldn’t escape him.
And perhaps, deep down… a part of her didn’t want to.

Aditya lifted her effortlessly into his arms, ignoring her weak protests, and carried her back to the car.

With every step, his vow echoed in his mind:
“You’re coming home, Aditi. Whether you like it or not.”
