Runaway Bride – The Lost & Found Love - Chapter 7

Chapter 7: The Escape That Never Happened

The silence in the small office was deafening. Aditya’s presence filled the room like a storm contained within four walls. His eyes never left Aditi, as if afraid she would vanish again the second he blinked.

Aditi’s heart thudded against her ribs. Her instinct screamed — Run. Before he chains you again.

She quickly grabbed her bag from the table, clutching it to her chest like a shield.

Aditi (voice trembling, but determined): “No… I can’t do this. I can’t go back to that life, Aditya. Please, just… let me go.”

She stepped back, her trembling hands fumbling with the door handle. But before she could pull it open, a strong hand slammed the door shut with a bang.

Aditya stood right behind her now, his breath brushing against her ear.

Aditya (low, husky, pained whisper): “Enough. Not this time, Aditi. You’ve run enough. You’ve punished me enough.”

The Confrontation

She spun around, eyes flashing with fear and defiance.

Aditi: “Punished you? You’re the one who suffocated me! You never listened… you never understood me. I’m not a doll to be kept in your golden cage.”

Her words sliced through him, but he didn’t flinch. Instead, he caged her between his arms, palms pressing against the door on either side of her.

Aditya (voice breaking slightly): “And you think I didn’t suffer? You think I spent this one year sitting in luxury? I was losing my mind, Aditi. Every day without you was hell. Every night, I searched for you in empty sheets. Every morning, I cursed myself for that fight… for letting you walk away.”

His raw honesty made her chest tighten, but her pride forced her to look away.

Aditi (soft but firm): “Then why didn’t you change? Why couldn’t you trust me… or give me space?”

His Desperation

For the first time, Aditya’s mask of power cracked. His eyes shimmered with vulnerability he never allowed anyone else to see.

He slowly lifted his hand, cupping her cheek gently, as if afraid she might break.

Aditya (whisper): “Because I’m terrified, Aditi. You don’t understand… you’re so innocent, so reckless. The world isn’t kind. One wrong step and I could lose you forever. I wanted to protect you… even if it meant keeping you too close.”

Aditi blinked rapidly, fighting the sting in her eyes. His words carried truth, but also the chains she had been trying to break.

She whispered back:
Aditi:Protection is not love, Aditya. I needed a partner… not a jailer.”

Her words made him flinch visibly, but instead of anger, there was only desperation in his gaze now.

The Claim

Without giving her another chance to run, Aditya pulled her into his arms. His embrace was crushing, almost desperate, as if he feared she’d dissolve into air.

Aditya (hoarse, muffled against her hair): “I don’t care how angry you are, Aditi. I don’t care if you hate me right now. But I won’t let you leave me again. You are mine — stubborn, silly, infuriating… but mine. And I will take you home.”

She struggled for a moment, pushing at his chest, but his arms only tightened. Her body betrayed her resolve — the warmth, the familiarity, the way her heart still raced for him.

Tears pricked her eyes as she whispered brokenly:
Aditi: “Aditya… please…”

Aditya (tilting her chin, forcing her to meet his eyes): “No, Aditi. Please… don’t ask me to let you go again. Because this time, I won’t.”

The Decision

He pulled out his phone with one hand, still holding her close with the other, and barked an order to Raghav:

Aditya (commanding): “Bring the car around. We’re leaving for Mumbai.”

Aditi’s eyes widened, shock written all over her face.
Aditi (furious): “You can’t just drag me back like this!”

Aditya’s gaze softened, though his grip didn’t loosen.
Aditya (firm, but tender): “Watch me.”

And with that, he intertwined his fingers with hers, not giving her a chance to pull away, as he led her out of the office — back into his world, back into his life.

But Aditi’s heart still whispered with doubt. Was he really going to change… or was she walking back into the same golden cage?
