Runaway Bride – The Lost & Found Love - Chapter 1
Chapter 1: The Argument
The grand mansion of the Raichand family stood shimmering under the golden Mumbai evening. Crystal chandeliers glowed inside, and the faint sound of the city outside was muffled by the tall glass walls. The world saw this mansion as a fortress of power, wealth, and control. But inside, at this moment, it was trembling with the sound of raised voices.
Aditi paced across the bedroom, her soft dupatta slipping from her shoulder as she flung her hands in frustration.
Her husband, Aditya Raichand—the man whom the world feared and respected—stood by the window, his jaw tight, his gaze sharp. His presence was commanding even in silence, but today that silence only made Aditi angrier.
Aditi (angrily): “You don’t understand me at all, Aditya! You treat me like… like a child. You decide everything, you control everything! Can’t I take even one decision of my own?”
Aditya (turning sharply, voice low but firm): “Because you are a child, Aditi. You trust people too easily, you believe anything anyone says. The world outside isn’t as innocent as you think. If I don’t protect you, who will?”
His words, though protective, cut her like a knife. She hated being called childish.
Aditi (hurt, voice trembling): “So, I’m just a burden to you? A doll to be locked away in this golden cage while you play protector? Is that what being your wife means?”
Aditya’s chest tightened. He hadn’t meant that. He never thought of her as a burden—she was his heartbeat. But expressing emotions was never his strength. His way of loving was protecting, guarding, surrounding her with his power.
He exhaled sharply, running a hand through his hair. “This isn’t a cage, Aditi. It’s safety. My safety for you. You don’t see the kind of men I deal with. If they ever—” He stopped mid-sentence, realizing he was revealing too much.
But Aditi’s eyes were already brimming with tears.
Aditi (whispering, more to herself): “Maybe you don’t trust me enough… maybe you don’t think I can ever stand on my own.”
Her soft words pierced him. For the first time, he looked shaken. But before he could step closer, before he could soften his voice and explain, Aditi’s stubborn pride flared.
She grabbed her small purse from the side table.
Aditya (alarmed, stepping forward): “Aditi… what are you doing?”
Aditi (angrily, through tears): “If being with you means losing myself, then I’d rather be anywhere else!”
She rushed out, ignoring his call. He followed her down the stairs, his deep voice echoing in the vast mansion.
Aditya (commanding): “Aditi! Stop right there!”
But she didn’t. Her anklets clinked against the marble floor as she ran outside, tears blurring her eyes. The driver looked confused as she ordered him to drop her to the station.
Aditya reached the door just as the car sped away. His fists clenched, his chest heaving. For a man who controlled empires with a single phone call, tonight he couldn’t even control the woman he loved the most.
He stood frozen in the driveway, the night breeze ruffling his hair, his heart pounding with both rage and fear.
“Childish girl… you don’t even know how dangerous this world is. You think you’re running from me, Aditi… but what you’re really running into, is trouble. And I can’t let that happen.”
His phone slipped into his hand as he barked orders to his men. But deep inside, behind the mask of power and authority, there was a man whose soul trembled with only one thought—
“She’s out there… alone. What if something happens to her?”
