Chapter 6: The Night It Rained… and Hearts Spoke

Mumbai nights rarely whispered. They roared — with honking cars, flashing lights, and monsoon storms that turned the city into a sea of chaos.

It was one such night.
Rain poured relentlessly, beating against the windows of their penthouse like a heartbeat trying to break free.

Inside, the power flickered. The lights went out. Only the dim glow of a candle on the coffee table lit the room.

Aditi stood by the window, arms crossed, hair slightly wet from when she'd tried to rescue a potted plant from falling off the balcony. She looked ethereal — raw, real, and untouched by the world’s weight.

Aditya walked in, phone dead, tie loosened. He paused when he saw her. For once, he didn't see the daughter of a rival empire. He saw Aditi — not Singhania.

“You should dry your hair,” he said softly.

“I like the rain,” she replied. “It reminds me that some things are out of our control… like marriages, mergers, or feelings.”

He stepped closer.

“Do you regret it?” he asked.

“What? The marriage?”

She turned to face him. The room silent. Their hearts loud.

“No,” she whispered. “Not anymore.”

There it was. No pretenses. No cold corporate language. Just honesty.

Aditya walked toward her, slow and unsure. This was uncharted territory for a man who thrived on control. He stood close — not too close, but just enough for the air to change between them.

“Aditi… I’ve spent my life negotiating deals, calculating risks… but you—” he paused, voice low, “you’re the first variable I can’t control. And maybe… I don’t want to.”

She didn’t say a word. She simply stepped forward, gently took his hand, and placed it over her heart.

“Then stop trying to win,” she whispered. “And start feeling.”

Thunder cracked outside, but inside — there was peace.

He leaned in — forehead against hers. Their breath tangled. The space between them disappeared… not just physically, but emotionally. It was the first night they slept beside each other — not as strangers, not as rivals — but as two people learning how to fall in love.

No promises.
No labels.
Just hearts… finally speaking.
