Unspoken Sparks - Chapter 2

 Chapter 2: The Test Begins

The next morning, Raychand Industries was alive with motion, but the silence on the top floor was different. Tense. Focused. Charged.

Aditi walked into Aditya Raychand’s office at exactly 8:59 AM, file in hand.

"Good morning, Mr. Raychand. Your updated schedule."

He looked up briefly. “You’re punctual.”

“I prefer efficiency,” she replied, placing the file on his table.

He noticed again—no smile, no flattery. Just precise execution.

Most employees either feared him or tried to impress him. Aditi did neither. And that made her… unpredictable.

Mid-Morning - The Curveball

Aditya pressed the intercom.
“Miss Sharma, in my cabin.”

She walked in within seconds.

“I’m attending a last-minute meeting with our Singapore partners. You’ll handle the Makhija Group conference call on my behalf in 30 minutes.”

Aditi blinked once. “Sir, I haven’t worked on that deal.”

“That’s the test. I want you to study the file and lead the call like you’ve been on it for months.”

A pause.

Then she picked up the file. “Alright. I’ll do it.”

Aditya watched her walk away. No panic. No hesitation.

He liked that.

30 Minutes Later – Conference Room

Several senior managers sat with headsets, and eyes darting toward Aditi. Whispers floated in the air.

“Why is she leading this?”

“She’s just a PA, right?”

The call connected. Aditi sat straight, poised, composed.

“This is Aditi Sharma from Raychand Industries. I’ll be representing Mr. Raychand on today’s discussion.”

Her voice was clear, professional, and calm. Within minutes, she had picked apart the numbers, countered a delay tactic, and subtly asserted the company’s edge.

By the end, the team nodded with approval.

“Sharp young lady you’ve got, Mr. Raychand,” they said in the closing remarks.

Unbeknownst to Aditi, Aditya had watched the entire call from his phone live.

Later – His Cabin

Aditya looked up as she entered. “You handled it well.”

“Thank you. I read the older deal memos and analyzed patterns. Their delay was expected.”

He smirked lightly. “You’re not a PA, are you?”

She paused. “Technically I am. But I’ve done client servicing and research before this role.”

There was something about the way she stood—firm, but not proud. As if she didn’t need anyone’s approval to know her worth.

“I like people who don’t show off,” he said casually.

“I like bosses who don’t underestimate,” she replied… then instantly added, “No offense.”

Aditya leaned back in his chair, eyes fixed on her.

“You’re interesting, Miss Sharma.”

“And you’re… different than I expected,” she answered without fear.

For the first time in years… Aditya Raychand smiled.

A small, amused curve of his lips.

Evening – Parking Basement

As Aditi walked to her scooter, she saw a black luxury car parked beside it. She ignored it until the window rolled down.

“Need a ride?” came Aditya’s voice, dry but polite.

She blinked. “No, thank you. I’m used to my own way.”

He tilted his head. “So am I.”

She gave a polite smile. “Then let’s both continue, Mr. Raychand.”

And drove away, leaving a cloud of dust and a curious smirk on his face.

That night, Aditya sat alone in his sea-facing apartment, glass of scotch untouched.

There was no boardroom, no negotiation, no acquisition that had ever made him pause like Aditi Sharma just had.

She was a storm, hiding behind calm.

And for the first time… Aditya wanted to get caught in it.
