The Story I Never Meant to Write - Chapter 7 (Second Last)

Chapter 7: The Name, The Choice, and The Heart

The sun rose differently that morning.

There was no contract.
No conditions.
No walls.

Only silence — and the space between two people who had once been strangers… now standing at the edge of something real.

Aditi’s Decision

Aditi spent the morning going through the countless messages, articles, and headlines.
Some praised her.
Some attacked her.

But this time, she wasn’t scared.

She walked down to the family breakfast table. Everyone looked up — waiting for her to speak.

Calmly, confidently, she said,

“I am KVS. And I’m not ashamed.”

There was no tremble in her voice.
Just strength.

She looked at Aditya’s parents. “I didn’t hide it to insult this family. I hid it because I never believed people would respect a dream unless it came with a name.”

Then her eyes met Aditya’s — and a tiny smile escaped her lips.

“Now… I’m ready to own my name.”

The Interview

Later that week, Aditi agreed to give one official interview — not as KVS, but as Aditi Singhania.

She sat in front of the camera, graceful yet honest.

When the anchor asked, “Your recent book, ‘The Contract Wife’ — is it based on your real life?”

Aditi paused.

Then softly replied,

“It was supposed to be fiction. But life has a funny way of writing itself into your words. So yes… some parts are real.
But the ending hasn’t been written yet.”

The clip went viral.

People fell in love with her all over again — this time not for her stories, but for her truth.

Riya's Final Call

Riya met Aditya one last time.

Her voice was quieter now.
“You changed,” she said.

Aditya nodded. “Maybe I did. Or maybe… I finally saw someone who made me want to.”

Riya sighed, with a sad smile.
“I guess I was never that person.”

“I’m sorry,” Aditya said gently. “For the pain. For the confusion.”

And just like that… they said goodbye.
No drama.
No hate.
Just closure.

The Confession

It was raining again.

Aditi sat near the window, holding a fresh cup of tea.

Aditya entered, wet from the rain, holding a copy of The Contract Wife in his hand.

He sat beside her. “I finished it.”

She turned, nervous. “And?”

He smiled, slowly. “I liked the ending… but I think it could’ve been better.”

She blinked. “How?”

He leaned a little closer.

“What if… the contract wife and the arrogant husband actually fell in love?
No rules. No exit plan. Just love — simple, confusing, and real.”

Aditi laughed softly. “Sounds risky.”

Aditya looked into her eyes.
“Worth it?”

A pause.

Then she whispered,

“Yes. Worth it.”
