The Story I Never Meant to Write - Chapter 1

Chapter 1: The Unexpected Decision

After years abroad, Aditya Singhania and Aditi Mehra returned home to India on the same day — unaware that their lives were about to take a shocking turn.

Aditya, the arrogant and confident heir of the powerful Singhania Group, had just completed his MBA in London. He wasn’t alone — with him was his long-time girlfriend Riya, a strong, ambitious woman just like him. Everyone in college believed they were made for each other. Aditya had brought Riya home with only one plan: to introduce her to his family and get married.

Meanwhile, Aditi Mehra, calm, mature, and thoughtful, also returned to her family after finishing her finance degree. But that wasn’t all — Aditi had also secretly become one of the most successful writers in the country under the pen name KVS. No one, not even her family, knew about this secret. Only her childhood friend and manager Karan knew her real identity, and helped keep her name hidden while her stories won hearts and awards.

As Aditya and Aditi reached their respective homes, both were welcomed with grand celebrations.

But the joy didn’t last long.

Within hours, both families revealed a massive surprise:
“Aditya and Aditi, you two are getting married.”

The reason?
Their families — owners of two of the biggest rival companies — had decided to unite their power and legacy through this marriage.

Aditya’s Reaction

“What?! This is ridiculous!” Aditya snapped. “I love someone else. I already have a partner.”

He tried everything to make his parents understand. But they refused to listen.

“You can’t always get what you want, Aditya. This marriage is important — for business, for reputation, for our legacy.”

Even worse, they strictly warned him:
“Don’t tell Aditi about Riya. Let this marriage happen peacefully.”

Aditi’s Reaction

Aditi was equally shocked. “Marriage? To someone I don’t even know properly. I don’t believe in love or marriage at all!”

Her family tried to convince her too.

“This is not just about you. This is about the family, our honor, and our future. Sometimes, sacrifices are needed.”

Though Aditi had her own dreams and a private life as KVS, the pressure from her loved ones left her feeling trapped.

The First Meeting

Aditya and Aditi finally met for the first time in a private room at a luxury hotel arranged by their parents.

Aditya looked serious and frustrated. He didn’t waste time.

“I need to tell you something,” he said. “I’m in love with someone else. Her name is Riya. I thought if I told you, maybe you’d back out of this marriage.”

Aditi was silent for a few seconds.

Then she calmly replied, “I don’t believe in love anyway. I had no plans of getting married. But I can’t fight my family either.”

They both realized they were stuck in the same situation.

The Contract

“If we have to do this,” Aditi said, “Let’s make our own rules.”

That night, they wrote a contract marriage agreement together.

  • They would stay married only for three years.

  • After that, they would get a divorce peacefully.

  • They would not interfere in each other’s personal lives.

  • They would act like a normal couple in public.

  • No questions, no expectations, no feelings.

Both signed the contract quietly.

And so, a relationship that started with denial, helplessness, and distance…
...was about to become something far more complicated.
